What is Anodized Aluminium?
Anodized Aluminium is an aluminium that has been treated with electro-chemical process to create a durable , corrosion-resistant and decorative finish. The aluminium is immersed in a series of tanks, where an electric current passes through aluminium and acid electrolyte bath. The aluminium acts as an anode, releasing oxygen ions that combines with the aluminium atoms on the surface.
An Anodized Aluminium is 3 times harder than the original aluminium. and 60% lighter than other metals such as stainless steel & copper. The anodized layer is created from the aluminium itself, so it won’t chip, flake, or peel. Anodized Aluminium can also be dyed to create variety of colours.
Black Marking On Anodized Aluminium
Anodized Aluminium can be laser engraved very easily with white marking but black marking can also achieved using a special type of laser, which is MOPA Laser. MOPA Laser is a Laser With MOPA(Master Oscillator Power Amplifier) Source. For More Information, you can check out this post.
In this marking, we used 200W MOPA Laser Machine to achieve the black marking result on anodized aluminium.
Do note that different power of lasers will have different parameters settings for black marking on anodized aluminium.
